A gamer posts a picture of six different consoles and their games, which have been framed and mounted for decorative purposes.
With Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo commanding the console market in recent years, it can be easy to lose track of how many other companies have contributed gaming systems to the industry. Even one of those three names has experienced this, as from the GameCube to the Wii, there are a plethora of consoles that, after so many years, have been largely forgotten by gamers. Now, as systems like the Nintendo Switch Lite and the Steam Deck are delivered to players, one fan is showing their love for some of gaming’s classic consoles.
The latest consoles from Microsoft and PlayStation are capable of delivering incredible performance, and all take advantage of the newest and most advanced gaming engines. But the gaming icons of the past have achieved legendary status for a reason, and one fan has decided to display all their favorite consoles in an interesting way.
Reddit user the-Roop recently posted an image to the Gaming subreddit that shows six gaming consoles all mounted and framed side-by-side. From the Xbox 360 and its game to the Sega Dreamcast, the display features some of gaming’s most popular consoles. The distinct designs of each system, along with the way the devices are mounted, makes the consoles instantly recognizable for any gaming fan. Of course, the different sizes of the consoles do present difficulties when it comes to attempting to mount them evenly.
The display also highlights the PlayStation 3, the GameCube, and the Super Nintendo. Each console features the system itself, the accompanying controller and a game disk or cartridge. The display showcases a few significant moments in the history of the gaming industry. The consoles are also a reminder of how far the industry has come. Nintendo’s systems, for example, have become infinitely more versatile since the Super Nintendo was released. Indeed, as the gaming industry becomes more popular and expansive, players can hope for even more inventive consoles in the future.
But the display by the-Roop isn’t truly of import. The mounted consoles are, rather, a look the history of gaming content. As the community approaches a year filled with highly anticipated titles, and as new technology makes playing games easier than ever, fans can expect to see gaming giants pushing the boundaries of play. Of course, innovation is not a guarantee of success, and some of the classic systems framed in the display on Reddit are still as fun to use today as they were when they originally released so many years ago.
