CEO of American mass media and entertainment conglomerate, Disney announced their plan to step into metaverse. He said the company is constantly seeking different plans in order to explore opportunities in digital space.
Co Bob Chapek—Chief Executive Officer of Walt Disney Company was speaking at the biennial D23 Expo fan convention of Disney. At the event he talked about the ways through which nearly a century old entertainment company is seeking to leverage the cutting edge technology in future.
During an interview after the event, Disney CEO said the company is itself an absolute lifestyle. He said their core focus now includes to find out the way of their next generation storytelling look towards leveraging their knowledge of what they know about a unique guest in the lifestyle of Disney, alongside serving unique experiences. Chapok added the company is looking towards using both physical and digital data to conduct their policy making for metaverse.
The division of physical and digital worlds explains the data of visits to their theme parks and streaming of consumers on their digital platforms, respectively.
Disney took the concept of digital space with utmost seriousness and they also claimed their vision towards the metaverse as the next-gen storytelling. The entertainment conglomerate is expected to bring a lot of significance to the table and everyone is keeping an eye on it.
In addition to their digital space plan, Disney has already entered into the non-fungible tokens (NFT) space. The company partnered with the NFT marketplace VeVe and launched the NFT collection named ‘Golden Moments’. The collection includes a variety of characters from Spiderman to Mickey Mouse, from collections of Marvel to Pixar and a lot more.
For a company as big as Disney it becomes crucial to follow the trend or even to stay ahead of the ongoing trend in order to stay relevant. Recent statements of Disney CEO also confirms this.
