At age 57, Martin de Wee is still going strong and has now published his second book, a roadmap for health fanatics and those wanting to live healthy lives.

Titled Transform your Body, Transform your Life, the easy-read book takes readers through his life story while focusing on healthy living. The book also sheds light on being able to get one’s body in shape without the use of steroids.

“People take care of their cars and belongings, but I want them to be able to take care of their bodies. This book is more of a guide and it is well-packaged with an e-book which guides gym enthusiasts and those simply wanting to live healthy lives on how to work out, and about proper diet,” said Martin.

He said he wants people to know that it was possible to get a sought-after body without any drug use.

His first book, Drug-Free Muscle Training, was published in 2004 and promoted during his high school anti-drug campaign tour during which he spoke to over half a million learners. The book also taught on the dangers of steroids and recreational drugs.

Renowned bodybuilder

Martin is an international actor, model, natural heavyweight bodybuilding champion, anti-drug activist, motivational speaker and personal trainer.

After 10 years of amateur boxing, his professional boxing ambition was halted after joining a modelling agency, making him one of the busiest sought-after models in the country.

“I took up acting as well and starred in a series of TV commercials, before featuring in his first international movie titled Dragonard, alongside Oliver Reed, Eartha Kitt and Patrick Warberton,” he said.

The experienced bodybuilder, who wears many capes, further worked in 10 other movies later on.

He has shared the screen with Lisa Rina, Henry Cele of Shaka Zulu and many other movie stars.

His introduction to bodybuilding gained him fame after winning the South African natural heavyweight bodybuilding championships four years in a row.

“I increased my knowledge on weight training after working with the legendary Reg Park, who also trained Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the late 90s, I made headlines after scoring the Sportsman of the Year Award in Alberton,” Martin said.

His more than 30 years of weight training and nutritional experience enabled him to help hundreds of people improve their health and get into shape.

“This was the motivation behind Muscles in a Bottle, a training and nutritional programme suitable for the whole family. I share this in my e-books, which cater for both men and women. I introduced this programme at the beginning of lockdown, to help keep people in shape without spending money,” he said.

The book, which comes as a collection with a workout guide, costs R395.
